About Reid Family Tree
I started out with the simple approach to my family tree. Asking questions,
making notes and following my direct line only. Being first generation
Canadian, I thought I would have a difficult time as most of my ancestors are
from England and Scotland. The more I researched, the more I realized how much
information was available online.
As I made contacts with distant cousins and began sharing information, it made
me want to share my family tree for anyone to view. I have chosen to extend my
tree beyond my immediate family so please use it as a reference only as you
should always cross-reference my information with the original record. I would
stress, however, that these will only be my version of events and I make no
claims whatsoever to being the fountain of all knowledge and am open to
correction at any time.
When I started, I didn't feel the need to keep a record of sources and track
where I came across the information as I got most of my information online.
8000 entries later, I wish I had done so. Being from Canada, my research is
limited to the internet and Google. Because of this I use the IGI from Family
Search and a subscription to the British Census returns at Ancestry.com.
I am very interested in database management and most of my time is spent
gathering and verifing data, running reports and tracking information so
genealogy comes very natural to me.
On a recent trip to the Wirral I visited a number of different graveyards and
took almost 290 photos of the common names I could find. I have posted them to
view: http://photos.yahoo.com/aaronjreid I regard my family tree as something
I've constructed for my own enjoyment and I hope you enjoy it too.
